how to apply
Please have both a friends only post and a screened post. The date of your friends only should be current (the year is up to you), and your journal should be marked as recently updated. At this time, we don't ask for examples unless you are being challenged. In this case, we'll comment you and let you know. We currently allow two challenges per role. If your application is deleted, it's most likely due to a problem with your dates, but feel free to ask.

if you're applying to override and you haven't asked us about it first, please let us know in your application. if it's for a reason other than the member being at 3 weeks, include that in your application or leave a comment in the dropbox.

if you are re-applying, please have an update in your journal before adds . Once you are removed for inactivity, you won't be able to use subcommunities as an update option.

please post your introduction to ohhi within three days and reply to the majority of comments within a week. All members must request and maintain membership to the intro community and at least two other subcommunities of their choosing. More below 👇

updates + subcommunities
Our update cycle is three weeks, with one placeholder allowed. All posts must be on the friends page with comments enabled. Your first post can be a placeholder.

Every 6 weeks, we provide you with two different choices. You can, of course, alternate between them and utilize them both depending on what fits into your schedule and what kind of activity inspires you.

1. updates Updates must be 200+ original words in whatever format you choose. Writing prompts and challenges will be provided in longreads. We love and encourage old school writing, but we'd like to give you the freedom to do it when you really want to. Which is why we have option 2.

2. Subcommunities If you post at least twice in TWO DIFFERENT subcommunities in the three weeks before your due date, and also reply to the majority of comments, you will meet the activity requirement, and you don't have to update. Just drop off the links to your posts here. Because we require the posts to be in different communities, we have a larger selection of subcommunities which hopefully cover a wide range of interests, and they all count for the update option. You can learn more about each one on our subcommunities & activities page.

*NOTE All posts made by you, whether in your journal or a subcommunity, require you to respond to over 50% of comments within a week or you may be overridden. Whether you are organizing games, starting discussions, or posting lyrics or a trailer, we find engaging with other members to be the most important thing. If there are any questions about this or about updates, please ask.

There will be opportunities to earn update passes (for either written updates or subcommunities) as a reward for completing writing challenges and participating in certain activities, plus a free one on your birthday. Our activity coordinator journal, producers, will keep you up to date on details.

overrides + activity
overrides You may apply to override based on the following: any member who has not posted an introduction, who has not updated in 3 weeks, not updated their friends list in over 2 weeks, or not responded to the majority of comments on their most recent post only (including intros). if you need to know whether a member has been posting in the subcommunities and is considered active, ask us.

activity warnings This community is designed to work with busy schedules as much as possible, but we all know that there's a difference between busy schedules and outright rolehogging. Because it's very easy to be accepted to this community and we have a very relaxed update cycle, we are committed to not allowing rolehogs to take the spots that active people want to fill. That's why we will be implementing a 3-strike activity warning system in roughly 12 weeks. It's meant to address extreme cases of of skirting the rules - i.e., doing the bare minimum to not be removed.

how do you receive an activity warning? if we consistently see you replying to comments once and then never again, if we don't see you comment any other posts but your own, if you make it obvious you only log in at the 3-week mark. When these things become patterns, the mods notice. we will then send you a pm informing you that you have a warning.

you can only receive one activity warning per update cycle, and it takes 3 of them for removal, so a total of 9 weeks minimum before you may be removed - plenty of time to become active if you choose to do so. if your activity level does change after the first or second warning, all past warnings will be wiped clean after six months.

*NOTE in order to keep things fair, this is NOT an override system. It's purely to remove people who abuse the rules to be inactive, and you must wait for three strikes before you apply.

hiatuses + extensions
all members are entitled to 6 weeks of hiatus in 6 months. since our update limit is three weeks, please request either two 3-week hiatuses or one 6-week. if you need an adjusted time because of activity concerns or ooc circumstances, let us know and we can work with you. we will revoke your hiatus for any public activity (wire and customs don't count).

if you intend to post a written update, you can request an extension. all extensions are 5 days by default. if you can post sooner, feel free, but you are allowed a full 5 days. unfortunately we can't grant subcommunity post extensions due to the confusion of counting posts in a new update cycle for a past update cycle. however, if you're having trouble replying to comments, let us know.

infractions
line-crossing of any kind will result in immediate removal. this includes but is not limited to bringing ooc issues ic and vice versa, targeted harassment, using a second character for ooc purposes, and all forms of trolling. there is also a zero tolerance policy for plagiarism. if you clean out your journal, we will assume you have left the community and may remove you at any time.

THANK YOU for your interest in this community. we understand that it's a lot but we've designed it for people who still want to explore their options in this hobby and make things better, and we can't do that without you! please approach your fellow members with kindness and an open mind and leave all ooc grudges at the door. if you have any questions or we can make your experience better in any way, leave us a comment.
